Lazy Dog

Hairy... sitting on the couch... head on the pillow... what a life. He stayed at home today, by himself, out of his crate, for about 30 mins. Nothing was destroyed... that I can find, as of yet.

So, here is another movie of the spolied one. Sitting on the couch, doing nothing

Bath time!

Well, I went over to Dan's house and Hairy came along. Well, Hairy and Coco were out in the backyard for the whole time and there is a sand pit and a huge water bucket. So, when we went to leave he was ALL full of sand and water.. so when we got home he had to have a bath.

We're still living.

Don't worry!

Latest news... Hairy broke a tooth (one of the bottom canine's) and there was blood all over, but it is a baby tooth so he'll be loosing it soon. Not sure how Mr. Prone To Accidents did that one .

Hairy is growing by leaps and bounds (literally..) here are some new pics:

Also, here is another short movie of the trick Hairy is currently learning. I usually leave the door slightly cracked so when he is done outside he can push it open (which he already does) and I am teaching him to close it after he comes in. He almost has it down.

ARRR Matey! I've been blindsided by a carrot!

If you didn't know, today is national Talk Like A Pirate day. And by now, it's too late so mark it down on your calendar for next year.

And no, I'm not joking.

Really.

Anyway, I decided to see if Hairy likes carrots. Apparently the answer to that question is a resounding no. Here are some pics:

I was taking some video of Hairy and thought I had some free time tonight to turn it in to a little mini-movie. Here are two different sizes, I reccomend the first one if you are on a high speed connection:

The Carrot Caper & Play Dead - Staring Hairy Paws (6.69 Mb WMV File / 640x480)

The Carrot Caper & Play Dead - Staring Hairy Paws (1.27 Mb WMV File / 320x240)

Thank you, come again.

The cone, ladies and gentleman, has been removed. He doesn't seem to care one way or another, except now he can eat his bone and hold it with his paws. The holes are almost gone.

A shopping we will go...

Ok, back from PetCo and we have new toys! We are now buying the "Malamute" size of everything, seems to last a little longer. Here is his new bone:

A digging we will go

Apparnetly this lampshade thing doesn't inhibit digging in any sense of the word, as demonstrated here:

And here

I left the back door open and Hairy went exploring. It is a great day today so all the windows are open and I knew after about 2 minutes of not hearing anything that something was up. So, naturally I grabbed the camera and found him in the first place I looked. At least it is in the designated digging spot.

So, of course he had a shower and then got his wounds, once again, disinfected.

Also, here is a movie of him playing with his rope.

We have tube removal capitan.

Went to the vet this morning to get the tube removed. Dr. Sanford liked what he saw and said he would keep Hairy on the anibiotics for another week and see how it goes from there. He didn't put in any stitches and I am just supposed to keep the holes clean with Hydrogen Peroxide until they heal up.

Hairy has to keep the cone on until it completely heals, in about a week or so.

Back to normal

Well, it's been a few days now since dirty paws had his operation. He still has the lampshade on his head and the tube sticking out. We go back on Monday to get that removed and stitched up. The second day after we were back home he was back to normal. Running around, barking, playing with his toys. He doesn't seem to mind the lampshade at all, it just gets stuck on a piece of furniture every once in a while.

I'll take some pics tomorrow when we get home.

Our worst nightmares have come true

He does have to wear one of those cones!

Well, Hairy is back from the vet. They put a drain in his head and he is on antibiotics for 5 days until we go back to see the doc again. I have to keep cleaning the drain (which doesn't impress Hairy too much) with a warm wash cloth. I gave him a little food from my hand so he doesn't eat to much or too quickly to get an upset tummy. He is now resting comfortably in the kitchen.

Off to the vet..

Well, I dropped him off this morning at the local vet. They said they would call when he is ready. Apparently he'll look like "franken-dog" for a while with the drain on his head.

On another note, it looks like we're getting some "press" coverage :D Thanks to Medoue and Ariadne for linking to Hairy's site!

Damn it Jim... I'm a doctor not a... wait a second

So, Hairy has been getting worse and worse with the bump on his head. Today he just didn't seem happy at all so I tool him to the Emergency Vet Clinic. They drew out some of the fluid in the bump and determined that the bump is an absest and it needs to have a drain installed. The Doc said that it could be from any number of things (bee sting, insect bite, hit his head on something sharp, etc). They injected some antibiotic and gave me some orals for him later. He is, however, now 26 pounds by their scale. Wow.

So tomorrow he goes in for surgery. Let's just hope he doesn't have to wear one of those lampshades.

You can see how his skull is about 3 times as tall from the ears up and how his right eye is slightly closed. Poor guy.

Apparently this is a great place to sleep.
